If I could shout from the rooftops every day of my life, bring this up in every conversation, or give these as Christmas gifts to get everyone I know hooked on laundry detergent sheets, then I would. And I have! My family can't think I'm and weirder than before, and now they're as committed as I am. Consider the world saved! (of plastic laundry jugs filling up the oceans and landfill, etc) There's still a lot of work to be done, clearly.

People feel overwhelmed by taking action for the climate. They feel their little lives won't make a difference. I see it differently. If everyone valued their little life a little more and took pride in their contribution, little or small, then we really could have a lasting impact. Consider your role as a consumer and the fact that you alone, the consumer, are keeping companies going. You are their most important asset. You're more important than the product itself! If you stop buying the grocery store jugs of detergent, share with a friend, give as gifts, share on social media, etc, you can make a huge difference! The more people that switch, the more companies will be forced to forget the plastic jugs, and embrace a healthier product to sell on the shelves at grocery stores.

My dream, be it related to laundry and shopping, is to walk into a regular store, not Whole Foods or MOM's Or your local organic shop, and find ZERO jugs of laundry detergent and instead find boxes made from compostable materials filled with sustainable laundry sheets, that are affordable for the working class. Folks need to know their options and that they aren't difficult, or pricey, changes to make.

These sheets work just the same, or better, than ANY liquid detergent. They last longer, are less expensive over time, take up A LOT less space, use zero plastic, and leave out the chemical fragrances. I love this so much because it aligns with my simple philosophy around bettering our climate. It's an easy decision made one time that has lasting effects.

I'll share the sheets that I've tried already first, so I can give you the best start towards your future love of laundry sheets. I can say, there is not much difference between them. Some have slightly more scent, and some have no scent at all. None of the scented ones have bothered my very sensitive allergies, though I cannot say the same will be true for you. Personally, I am only affected by synthetic fragrances, which I have not come across in the laundry-sheet world. That being said, the cleaning agents in the laundry sheets seem to be gentler than the liquid types. I have NOT felt the need to use fabric softener since I started on the sheets in 2020. I have small children and their clothes get DIRTY. Like, covered in mud. I have never taken out the laundry and thought, this could be cleaner.

1. Sheets Laundry Club

https://sheetslaundryclub.com/loyalty

This was the first company I tried, and loved it right away. It didn't just give me a thrill that I was skipping out on using plastic jugs, I was intrigued by how little space it took up. I thought of shipping and how the delivery process for large things is hard on the climate. Space matters. With liquid detergent, 62 loads never seemed to actually last 62 loads. With these, they last just as long as it said, as you only need one sheep per load. This company is the one that sold me. I had to switch at one point because they were out of stock! Trying others and supporting more brands was fun to do, though. I was excited by the prospect of a revolutionary way of washing clothes.

One thin I like about this company is their "Club". They offer an incentive point system where you can save money over time and share your love of their product. It's important to do this so more people can use less plastic. It makes sense that they would shape their company model this way, and I think it speaks volumes. Spreading the word of real tangible immediate ways we can reduce plastic is crucial. Much love to this company.

2. Greenargen

This company offers a sheet with lavender scent, among many other sustainable products! I cannot wait to try them all and share with you. The scent is very subtle, and lavender itself has cleansing properties, so I wonder if that has anything to do with the performance of this product. I found that it works perfectly for the needs of our family. Like I said before, with small children we have a lot of dirty clothes. Lot's of stains, surprise spills or caked on dirt, and I have never had an issue with the performance of these sheets. I actually prefer the scented, which is something I never thought I would say!

3. Inso-Green

https://insogreen.com/

This company makes a great product, though it seems they only make laundry sheets. I'm currently halfway through one of their unscented packs and have zero complaints! I'm located on the east coast between Baltimore and DC, and this company's headquarters are located in NJ. Due to its close location, I chose this company to cut back on emissions from delivery, which feels like an aligned decision for me.

4. Kind Laundry

I love this brand! I like their options to bundle and save, and they offer multiple laundry related products you can find soon in other reviews of mine. From dryer balls to scent boosters, they are pretty committed to changing the face of Laundry. Their Ocean Breeze fragrance is, once again, subtle and refreshing. None of the sheets I've tried have an overpowering smell. They don't flare up my allergies and the clothes feel soft and smell clean. I would not hesitate to get a subscription to their products and never have to think about what you're using to clean your clothes again. If you really want to feel good about your purchase, which I recommend because it really does inspire the rest of your purchasing habits to feel the same- go to their website and read their story. They seem like really honest, hard working, genuine folks who wanted to make a company that really makes a difference- which they have accomplished! They're located in Ontario, Canada.

5. Zero Waste Store ZWS

I love looking through this online store! Not only do they cover many areas of making sustainable buying choices, they have things I've never heard of, which inspires me to explore other products in the future! Keep an eye out, I'm sure I'll review some of their stuff soon, once I can give it a try.

Their Laundry sheets come in a pack of 60 and with a subscribe and save incentive, you save a whopping 30%, which I believe is pretty generous compared to other brands. I am very curious about this company. I'll definitely be trying several products from them.

6. Seas Of Action

Wow! This company is after my literal heart. Not only do they donate 1% of their sales, at no extra cost to you, to The 5 Gyres Institute. This Non-Profit organization's mission is to protect the ocean, our biggest and most important eco-system to the stability of the climate, from plastic pollution and was one of the major forces behind banning the use of micro-beads, a huge contribution to microplastics in the Ocean.

Not only are they giving back in a way that metters, their product is priced much better at $0.19 per load. They offer a subscribe and save 28%, one box has 128 loads and they offer unscented as well as lavender. They boast on their site that a family of 4 could squeeze by using only 4-6 boxes per year. I may have to give them a try, considering they are in alignment with my values and buying from them would feel really good, something i find to be underrated in the world of making a difference in the climate. We want to feel good in this life, and have better brighter days. Why not access that feeling by giving back while getting what you need and not harming the climate in the process? Seems like a win-win-win to me!

7. ECOS

https://www.allstarhealth.com/li.aspx?k=laundry+sheetsthe

I found these sheets on Allstarhealth.com and really enjoy looking around this site. They have so many things, from herbs to cleaning products, and so much in-between. I personally have not tried these, however, they are priced really well and this brand has an established presence in your local organic store. They have several scents and the rest of their products are not aggravating to my allergies, so I would hope these are the same! I hope to see them on grocery store shelves soon!

That concludes my list for now! When I try more I will update this list! Each of these would make a great replacement of any liquid detergent, save water, give back- and most importantly- WOULD NOT CONTRIBUTE TO PLASTIC POLLUTION!!!

One small decision at a time,

Melissa
